Environmental Information System [ E N V I S ]
EPTRI provides training, consultancy, applied research services and advocacy in the area of environment protection to Industries, Regulatory Bodies, Government Organizations and NGOs.

We undertake various activities covering environmental issues related to industries, protected areas, biodiversity, urban agglomeration, environmental awareness, human resource development, Renewable energy, Bio-medical waste, Solid waste management, capacity building and research. 



Environmental Information System (ENVIS), set up by the Ministry of Environment and Forests [MoEF], Government of India, is a decentralised information network of distributed  subject  oriented  centres  ensuring  integration  of  national  efforts  in environmental information collection, collation, storage, retrieval and dissemination.



ENVIS Centre on Eastern Ghats:

An  ENVIS  Centre  was  set  up  at  EPTRI  in  1994  and  the  theme  allotted  to  the ENVIS-EPTRI  is  the  'Ecology  of  the  Eastern  Ghats',  the  fragile  and  threatened ecosystem extending from Orissa, through Andhra Pradesh toTamil Nadu and a small part of Karnataka. The Centre is guided by the ENVIS Coordination Committee comprising of subject specalists, guided by the Director (EI) of MoEF-GoI and headed by the Director General of EPTRI. The Centre brings out two quarterly Newsletters: "The Eastern Ghats" in English and "Toorpu Kanumalu" in  Telugu  that  are  disseminated  to various stakeholders. A biblograpic database is also maintained.

Monographs and Proceedings of the National Seminar
on Conservation of Eastern Ghats held at Visakhapatnam
in 1998,  at Tirupati in 2002 and in Chennai in 2007.
The  Proceedings  cover  the  Papers  submitted, 
the  Charter  on  Conservation  of  Eastern  Ghats 
and  the Chennai Statement.




ENVIS Centre on Status of Environment & Related Issues for Andhra Pradesh:

The Centre was set up in 2004 as a sequel to the ENVIS Government Node on State of Environment Report on Andhra Pradesh, set up at the Department of Environment, Forests, Science and Technology, Government  of  Andhra  Pradesh  and  located  at EPTRI.

A separate website:  http://envis-soe.ap.nic.in is maintained by the Centre with a link to the Indian State Level Basic Environmental Information Database [ISBEID].  The  ISBEID  is  a  centralised  database  maintained  by  the  Ministry  of Environment  and  Forests,  Government  of  India  for  all  the  States  on  24  parameters pertaining to the environmental issues. The Centre provides inputs relating Andhra Pradesh. The State of Environment Report for Andhra Pradesh is also uploaded on the website.

Other publications:
The Centre brings out a quarterly Newsletter "Paryavaranam" in English on various environmental issues.
