EPTRI is one of the first institutions in the State of Andhra Pradesh promoting the concept of source segregation for achieving zero waste management and offering one stop solutions for MSW Management.

Climate Change and CDM:

Climate Change and CDMGovernment of Andhra Pradesh appointed EPTRI as Center for Climate Change and Nodal Agency for CDM in Andhra Pradesh vide G.O.Ms.No.101, EFS&T (ENV) Department, dated 19.11.2001. The centre is working to sensitize various stakeholders to avail the opportunities under CDM by organizing workshops. The Centre is also helping the project proponents for preparation of PDDs

SoE Reporting:

EPTRI is the first organization in India for bringing out State of Environment (SoE) Reports for Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh. Government of India has appointed the EPTRI as a National Host Institution for six states viz. Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Chatisgarh, Assam, Tamil Nadu and one Union Territory i.e. Andaman and Nicobar Islands for helping them to prepare the SoE Reports under tenth five year plan.

Promotion of alternative energy sources:

Promotion of alternative energy sourcesEPTRI encouraged and promoted Non-Conventional Energy Resources in rural areas with Solar lights, Solar Dryers etc in un-grid connected rural hinterlands. It has implemented a Solar Energy project in Appapur village (a tribal hamlet in the district of Mahaboobnagar) with the financial assistance from the Ministry of Tribal Welfare, Government of India

Environment and Social Assessment:

EPTRI has executed ESA studies for river basins in Tamil Nadu under Water Reforms Programme assisted by the World Bank. The study provided social and environmental management framework by adopting stakeholder consultation process throughout the study area besides suggesting institutional mechanism to steer the reform programme.

Natural Resources and Environmental Accounting:

EPTRI has started the project with the financial assistance form GTZ through MoEF. The study is to inventorise the natural resources, its depletion and monitorising for its reclamation.

Wasteland development through bio-diesel plantations:

EPTRI organising sensitization workshops for farmers, government line department officials and local bank officials on promotion of energy plantations i.e. Pongamia pinnata and Jatropha curcas in wastelands.

Interior rural village electrification:

Citizen empowerment in the management of natural resources:

EPTRI established Clean Line Centre to promote urban environmental education directly to the gross root level stakeholders. The Centre provides a common platform to work closely with NGOs, Industry, Government Departments and Community to minimize waste and pollution in all spheres in twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad in the following areas:

  • Vehicular Air Pollution
  • Water and waste Water Management and Municipal Solid Waste Management
  • Bio-Medical Waste Management
  • Industrial Effluents and Waste Minimization

Environment & Health awareness in urban slums:
