“Workshop on Climate Downscaling and Analysis”

on February12th and 13th| EPTRI, Hyderabad, India

 

Environmental Protection Training Research Institute (EPTRI), in collaboration with the Institute for Tropical Meteorology Pune (IITM- Pune), U.S. NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NOAA NCEI) and its university partners are convening a workshop on climate modeling and advanced climate downscaling techniques in India to help inform decision making across various state action planning and other sectors.

Objectives

  • Share expertise in climate modeling techniques
  • Participate in hands-on exercises on climate downscaling methods led by IITM and U.S. experts, including:
    • IITM Coordinated Regional Downscaling Experiment (CORDEX) program for South Asia
    • Asynchronous Regional Regression Model (ARRM) method
    • NASA Earth Exchange Global Daily Downscaled Projections (NEX-GDDP)
    • ARRM Method
  • Discuss and collaborate on the application of downscaled climate information for India State Action Plan Development activities
  • Engage and collaborate on applications of downscaled information in the areas of agriculture, energy and infrastructure planning
